Despite initial successes in holding the lines, the betrayal of Lord Loghain Mac Tir and the overwhelming numbers of the enemy led to a disastrous defeat. The fortress was overrun, burning under the weight of the Blight, leaving behind only ruins and the tragic legacy of a king who died defending his people.
